Truman's Ignorance

Truman knew how powerful the bomb(s) were but he chose to ignore the kind of damage and destruction this new "toy" could cost. He was there the day the bomb was tested and saw how it disintegrated a 60-foot tower and left a crater 6 feet deep and 1,200 feet in diameter and he could feel the heat on his hands from 32 kilometers away yet he still used the bombs. It was pretty much a science experiment. He only chose "virgin" targets to bomb so he could see how much damage the bomb could cause and make improvements. In the end 340,000 lives were lost and many generations were affected by the radiation and the birth defects the bomb caused.
